¡Hóla! from Mallorca

Ok so the saving money thing didn't last very long. Following a series of events having something to do with the Russian mafia, Erin was denied a visa to Russia, so she and I both ended up bored, with time off and a need for some sunshine. So, wheat else would you do but head to Mallorca for 6 days! And what a great decision it was. After leaving drenching rain in Bonn, we arrived to crystal clear water, miles of beaches and glorious weather. We spend a few days chilling out on the beach, a mere 5 minute walk from our hotel door, catching up on some well needed R&R. Although Erin had been complaining of a sore tummy, I was surprised to walk into the doctors office to find her hooked up to an IV. The diagnosis turned out to be dehydration but she was a sight!
After our "A.D.D" kicked in (as Erin likes to put it) we hired a car for two days and drove around the island (well Erin did the driving thank goodness!). I have to admit that while the beaches on the island are spectacular, my favourite spot had to be one the west coast, where the shear cliffs fell into clear blue water - it was breathtaking.

We also made a couple of small trips to Palma to visit the cathedral, which lies right on the waters edge, and the old part of the city, with its alleys and a couple of cute shops! We stuffed ourselves with seafood but stayed away from the sangria. It was a wonderful vacation and a much needed break!
Despite her little illness, Erin was a great travel companion and the best company to hang out on the beach and cruise around the island singing to all our favourite tunes (in both English and Spanish). So Mallorca probably isn't the best spot if you are looking for seclusion and culture but it is both fun and beautiful. And here are some sunset photos, just 'cos it was so pretty!
